From student matinees to post-show discussions, Olney Theatre Center’s educational programming strives to nurture and develop students, artists, administrators and audience members.
National Players
Hailed as America’s longest running classical touring company, the National Players not only introduce audiences to great works of dramatic literature, they also provide company members with an exemplary lesson in collaboration and teamwork. National Players not only play multiple roles onstage, but also serve as managers, teaching artists, and technicians during their tour.
Student Matinees
Nothing compares to the experience of live theatre. Our student matinees provide educators an opportunity to provide that experience to their students, and open discussions ranging from the performing arts to in-depth pre-show and post-show classroom discussions.
In-School Workshops
Engage your students and develop their cognitive and creative skills by bringing one of our five in-school workshops, or design your own workshop. Workshops are accessible to students in every school district in Maryland.
Summer Shakespeare Festival
Each year the National Players perform outside for free on the Root Family Stage, bringing free Shakespeare under the stars to Olney audiences every year in August.
Post-Show Discussions
Take a peak behind-the-scenes, or dive into the topics explored in the show you just saw with our post-show discussions.
Internships
Our year-long internship program provides technicians, artists and arts administrators valuable real world experience and prepares them to go on to a career in the theatre arts.
