EDUCATION INTERNSHIP
Number of Positions: 1

Salary Range per week: $125
The Education Intern works with the General Manager in the planning and management of the Olney Theatre Center Institute, the education and outreach department at Olney Theatre Center, including the National Players (America’s longest running touring company). Manage auditions, budgets, contracts, and professional contacts. Prepare materials and teach workshops to students of all ages. Interns play essential roles in the day-to-day operations of a growing Education department, plus onsite events. This internship is suitable for those working towards professional careers in Arts Management or Arts Education.
Major responsibilities of position:
- Serve as a staff member of the Olney Theatre Institute.
- Assist in budget compilation, balancing, and implementation for all education programs.
- Help in correspondence with National Player venues including writing contracts, booking tour dates, and mailing publicity materials.
- Develop and maintain professional relationships with teachers and school administrators in Maryland, including database management.
- Assist the General Manager with National Players tour administration from the home office at Olney Theatre Center.
- Teach workshops in local schools.
- Create supplemental classroom materials for education programs.
- Assist in casting for National Player companies
- Generate supplemental materials for funding opportunities.
- Other duties as assigned by the General Manager and Associate Artistic Director.
PRODUCTION MANAGEMENT - CASTING INTERN

Timeframe: June 2012 to June 2013
Number of productions during this period: 6+
Salary Range per week: $125
Major responsibilities of position:
- Manage all auditions beginning with actor cultivation to final casting.
- Develop relationships as the main point of contact for actors
- Coordinate actor database with head shots and resumes
- Assistant to the Director on one show, if desired
- Assist in facilitating theatre management including company management coverage, guest artist travel, and run crew when needed.
PRODUCTION MANAGEMENT - PRODUCING INTERN
Number of Positions: 1
Timeframe: Sept. 2012 to Sept. 2013
Number of productions during this period: 6+
Salary Range per week: $125
Major responsibilities of position:
- Learn the ins and outs of hiring and contracting professional actors, directors, designers, and many other professional artists
- Facilitate housing and travel arrangements for numerous live in residents and guest artists
- Organize the hiring of interns and full time staff
- Mange the recording, reconciling and reporting on production show budgets and fiscal databases
- Assist in facilitating theatre management including company management coverage, guest artist travel, and run crew when needed.
COSTUME INTERNS

Timeframe: May or Sept 2012 to May or Sept 2013
Number of productions during this period: 6+
Salary Range per week: $125
Major responsibilities of position:
- Manage the creation, upkeep and maintenance of costumes for shows
- Assist the Costume Shop Manager and Designers in realizing designs
- Handle costume run crew for most productions
STAGE MANAGEMENT INTERNS

Timeframe: May or Sept. 2012 to May or Sept. 2013

Salary Range per week: $125
Major responsibilities of position:
- Apprentice with AEA SM on pre-production, rehearsal and performance process
- Manage backstage during productions
- Gain points towards the Equity Membership Candidate Program
- Assist in the scene shop in off hours
TECHNICAL INTERN - PROPS

Timeframe: May, June, or Sept. 2012 to May, June, or Sept. 2013
Number of productions during this period: 6+
Salary Range per week: $125
Major responsibilities of position:
- Assist the Costume/Props Supervisor and Technical Director in the cultivation, creation, construction, rental, purchase and pull all show properties
- Assist the Technical Director in scene shop when possible as needed
- Handle run crew for some productions
- Assist in facilitating theatre management when needed.
TECHNICAL INTERN - ELECTRICS

Timeframe: May, June, or Sept. 2012 to May, June, or Sept. 2013
Number of productions during this period: 6+
Salary Range per week: $125
Major responsibilities of position:
- Assist the Master Electrician and Sound Engineer in the installation, operation, and maintenance of lights and sound for all productions
- Assist the Technical Director in scene shop when possible as needed
- Handle run crew for most productions
- Assist in facilitating theatre management when needed.
TECHNICAL INTERN - CARPENTRY

Timeframe: May, June, or Sept. 2012 to May, June, or Sept. 2013

Salary Range per week: $125
Major responsibilities of position:
- Assist the Technical Director and Set Designer in the creation and instillation of production sets
- Handle run crew for most productions
- Assist in facilitating theatre management when needed.
- Work in every aspect of the operation during our dynamic 6-play season and affiliate events
- Acquire and apply new skills within a prestigious regional theatre company
- Benefit from working directly with a dedicated resident staff and over 300 visiting professional artists per year
- Develop marketable skills and contacts for future employment
- Live and work together in a vibrant artistic community
