ABOUT THE SHOW
THE PIANO LESSON is the fourth play in August Wilson’s “Century Cycle.” The play follows the Charleses, an African-American family living in Pittsburgh in 1936, as they struggle over the sale of a precious family heirloom, literally and figuratively fighting the ghosts of their past.
The New York Times hailed THE PIANO LESSON as “a generous gift,” “emotionally sustaining great theatre,” and a “savory theatrical feast.” Time Out New York described the play as a “grand drama” that “reaches operatic intensity.” And Back Stage called THE PIANO LESSON a “theatrical whirlwind.” (Recommended for ages 12 and up)
Approximately 2 hours and 45 minutes including one intermission.
