Breaking ground in 2020, Staging the Future has begun to revitalize Olney Theatre Center’s campus.
The capital campaign is positioning our theatre to become a world-class theatrical incubator and multidisciplinary hub. As of January 2025, Olney Theatre has raised nearly $32 million towards its goal thanks to generous donors like you, support from the Montgomery County Government, and a $15.5 million investment from the State of Maryland. We now look to our community to help us raise the remaining $4 million.
Staging the Future will:
► Reimagine the Root Family Stage at the new Omi’s Pavilion, providing a unique outdoor performance space in Montgomery County.
► Transforming the aging 1938 Original Theatre into the Bernard Family Theatre,a world-class performance venue and flexible event space,
► Building a state-of-the-art technical theatre Makers’ Center,
► Creating our first ever Education Center to significantly expand our teaching ability,
► Renewing our gathering spaces and courtyards to foster community connections,
► Reducing our environmental footprint,
► Enhancing accessibility throughout the campus.
