Registration now open for Olney Theatre Center's Summer Camps

At Olney Theatre Center's summer camps, students will:

SING, DANCE, WRITE, ACT, AND LEARN during our two-week long summer camp
sessions, taught by local DMV professional theatre artists.

How do I register?
1. Read the descriptions of each camp below.
2. Review our financial and health/safety policies on our Policies and Procedures
webpage prior to registration.
3. Click the REGISTER button to sign up for the appropriate camp. Registration
must be made online.

Olney Theatre Center Summer STOCK

Olney Theatre Center Summer Stock is a one-of-a-kind theatre arts program for students in grades 4-6 (rising). Inspired by our own summer stock theatre roots, students will work with Olney Theatre artists daily, taking classes in acting, singing, dance, and playwriting. At the end of the two-week session, students will perform music, choreographed dances, and their own original short plays for friends and family on Friday, July 19 at 1:30pm.

Olney Theatre Center Musical Theatre Intensive

Olney Theatre Center Musical Theatre Intensive is for students in grades 7-9 (rising). Working with Olney's best musical theatre performers and teachers, Musical Theatre Intensive students will hone their individual singing, dancing, and acting skills, while crafting a unique musical theatre review that showcases their growth and skills. At the end of the two-week session, students will perform an original piece devised from music from pop culture and musical theatre, incorporating some of their original stories and lines of dialogue to be shared with their families on Friday, August 2 at 1:30pm.

Schedule

The Summer STOCK and Musical Theatre Intensive schedule is Monday - Friday from 9:30am - 2:30pm, with a 1 hour break from 11:30am-12:30pm. 

Summer STOCK Sample Schedule:

  • 9:30am - 10:30am. Warm-up / Theatre Games / Acting time
  • 10:30am - 11:30am. Movement and Musical Theatre Choreography
  • 11:30am - 12:30pm. Lunch Break
  • 12:30pm - 1:30pm. Singing for Musical Theatre
  • 1:30pm - 2:30pm. Collaborative playwriting

Musical Theatre Intensive Sample Schedule:

  • 9:30am - 11:00am. Acting Games and Writing Exercises
  • 11:00am – 12:15pm. Singing for Musical Theatre
  • 12:15pm – 1:00pm. Lunch Break
  • 1:00pm – 2:15pm. Movement and Musical Theatre Choreography
  • 2:15pm - 2:30pm. Wrap-up and Closing

Summer Program FAQs

(UPDATED December 15, 2023)

Where will summer camps be held?
Summer programs will take place inside the Mulitz-Gudelsky Theatre Lab! Final presentations for friends and family will occur at 1:30pm on the final Friday of each session in the same space.

How many participants are admitted into each session?

Summer Stock and Musical Theatre Intensive will be limited to 25 participants. Summer Audition Studio will be limited to 12 participants.

Will Olney Theatre Center offer Before and After Care?

No. Before and After Care will not be offered this year.

What does participant pick-up and drop-off look like?

Morning check-in and drop-off will happen outside the Mulitz-Gudelsky Theatre Lab. Parents/guardians will need to submit approved drivers for pick-up ahead of time via email to education@olneytheatre.org. You will also need to walk your student up to the door and sign-in and out.

Where will lunch breaks be held?

Lunch breaks will take place outside on Omi’s Pavilion when weather permits. Indoor dining locations will be specified inside the Mulitz-Gudelsky Theatre Lab lobby.

Will there be anyone else in the building where camp is held?

Access to the building will be limited to students, teachers, and requisite Olney Theatre staff only. 

What are your Covid-19 safety policies?

Please view our Policies and Procedures information. All of our teaching artists are vaccinated against Covid-19. This year, we do not require Covid-19 vaccinations for our camp participants.
