Part of the Wednesday Night Grab Bag series. Dancers bring different corners of the world - India, West Africa, China, Brazil, and even NYC - to Olney for two Wednesdays full of rhythm, movement, and passion. Audience members may even get to learn a move or two as well.

Cristina Camacho & Co.
Cristina Camacho aka Macho is a professional movement artist and arts advocate. A DMV native, Macho graduated from the University of Maryland with a Bachelors in Dance and Kinesiology. While based in the area, she was a member of Dynamic Dance Team, Culture Shock DC, and KickRocks Crew. Macho moved to NYC in 2018 to pursue her professional career in dance and arts programming. Since moving to NY, she has trained with and worked under well-renowned choreographers and performed in numerous stage productions including Carnival, BET's Wild Out Wednesday, Candace Brown's The Soul Spot, and the MTV VMA's. She has traveled nationally and internationally as a choreographer and dance educator and is signed by LDC Artist Rep.
When she is not dancing, Cristina works as an arts administration professional, lending her experience to the likes of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, and as an advisor to numerous dance education programs. She returns to the DMV often to contribute to youth arts organizations and generate programming for the local dance community.

KanKouran was founded in 1983 for the purpose of contributing to the extension of the arts by introducing the essence of traditional African dance to audiences; enriching American cultural heritage through the integration of authentic West African performing arts; and promoting intercultural understanding through education and artistic excellence. The Company’s success is perhaps best judged by its longevity and large number of company members who credit KanKouran with instilling within them the discipline, pride, and commitment to self and community that has made their life pursuits meaningful as well as successful.

The Rhythmaya Dance Troupe
The Rhythmaya Dance Troupe has proudly performed multiple times at the Nationals Baseball Stadium, Washington Wizards Pre-Game Shows, the Kennedy Center, the Wolftrap Theater, Macy’s Corporation, Association of National Olympic Committees and Madam Toussad’s Wax Museum. Our Professional Dance Troupe has opened up for Shreya Ghoshal, Sunidhi Chauhan, Badshah and of course the legendary A.R. Rahman. Our troupe also won first place at a dance competition judged by the renowned Bollywood Choreographer, Saroj Khan.

Company | E with Robert J. Priore
A contemporary repertory dance company, dance education and interdisciplinary arts organization based in the U.S. Capital City of Washington, DC emphasizing international collaborations with the great choreographers, dancers. composers, film-makers and artists at work today.
Choreographer Robert J. Priore: is very proud to be a founding member of Company | E, where he has had the honor of dancing works by Ohad Naharin, Andrea Miller, Sharon Eyal, Rachel Erdos, Roni Koresh, Marco Cantalupo and Thomas Noone. Robert continues to hone his craft while being the Choreographer-in-Residence for the CityDance Conservatory as well as an Ignite Artist. Robert received a BFA in dance from Point Park University. Robert was a 2015 recipient of the John F. Kennedy Center Local Dance Commissioning Project andcreated a special work for the artists of Company | E, Speak Easy. Speak Easy has been on the road, being presented in collaboration with Company | E, in Russia, Azerbaijan, Cuba, Ukraine and, most recently, the Republic of Georgia.

Xuejuan Dance Ensemble
Founded in 2009, Xuejuan Dance Ensemble (XDE) is dedicated to promoting the art of Chinese dance through education & performance. We teach ethnic dances such as Han, Tibetan, Mongolian, Uyghur, Dai, Wa, Yi, Korean & Miao. Our classical dance training draws from Chinese opera, acrobatics, taichi, martial arts, and ballet.
XDE performs widely in the DC Metro area such as Kennedy Center's Millennium Stage, Smithsonian Folklife Festival & new year celebrations, and Prince George County’s World Dance Showcase.

CHR PROJECT by Charles Renato
Charles Renato was born and raised in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Charles is a very known teacher and choreographer throughout the US and the world. He recently did a European tour teaching and performing in 8 countries. After he moved to NYC Mr. Renato has been working with Apt 33 directed by Chloe Arnold and performed with Michelle Dorrance and Dorrance Dance. He was part of the faculty at Broadway Dance Center and Steps On Broadway and he is currently an Artist Resident at American Tap Dance Foundation and member of Break the Floor Productions.
