The traveling acting troupe in The Amateurs, who go from town to town performing stories from the Bible, trying to stay alive in the time of the Black Death, are the forerunners of Olney Theatre's own touring troupe, the National Players who go from town to town, performing stories from Shakespeare and other classics in schools, prisons and performance centers. Join OTC Artistic Director Jason Loewith for a discussion of the history of medieval players as well as the joys and hardships of traveling theatre.
Our distinguished panel includes an acclaimed medievalist, the director of The Amateurs and artistic director of National Players, and two veterans of National Player tours.
