"At the heart of Elf, as I see it are very high emotional stakes. Christmas (and possibly all that is good) is in crisis. No one believes in Santa, everyone seems to be very upset and down right mean and even our hero, Buddy has just learned that the family he knows is not his real family. This story is about believing in goodness. My hope is to find every bit of heart, maybe drama and best parts of the “spirit of Christmas” without losing the humor, Broadway spectacle and excitement [of the] show and tackle the technical demands that the show has with creativity and maybe even a little immersion. I hope the audience will get choked up and remember why they love the holidays so much."
