Updated July 17 - Because of the weather, tonight's performance of Just Arts has been moved indoors to the Mainstage Theatre. The performance will begin as scheduled at 7:00 pm. All patrons are required to wear a mask when not eating or drinking.
Following the online success of Just Arts last year, OTC continues to stand in the fight for Social Justice. So we're bringing back Just Arts, curated by Kevin McAllister, for both a two-night live performance on the Root Family Stage and another virtual performance online.
Who we are and where we come from is the very lens through which all of mankind exists.
Just Arts: Heritage is about tearing down the walls of race and gender and beginning to understand the power of legacy and connection. It is our hope that by sharing the artistic legacy of these artists, we too can change the world in some small way. And it doesn't hurt that it's a free outdoor event. Brass Bands, Indian Dance, Tap Dancing, Negro Spirituals, Opera, Spoken Word, Acoustic Guitar Bands, Break Dancing and more. This will be an epic event. Who knows? We may even find a way to celebrate those in attendance as well.

Local muralist and activist Lusmerlin Lantigua will be facilitating a community art piece during Just Arts: A Celebration of Art and Activism on July 17. After a year of social distancing and quarantine, Just Arts attendees will be able to gather in person to contribute to building and painting a community art piece on the theme of coming together. Everyone is invited to write, doodle, splash, or make their own interpretation of what "coming together through the arts" means to them, on the wood panels.
Sunday, July 18 at 7:00 pm Online
(RSVP for a Reminder)
With the theme of Heritage to guide them, artists from all over the world, discuss their legacy and their hope for the future. From Cameroon, China, Puerto Rico, NYC, Seattle, and various other cities around the world, artists were asked to create an artistic response to tell the world their story. "Who am I? Who do I hope to be? Who do I hope we can become?" Dance, Spoken word, narration, Song. There is something for all lovers and creators of the arts. This amazing virtual experience is a rare glimpse into culture and identity that will not only show us our differences but celebrate why at our core we are all the same.
