Remount directed by Kathryn Chase Bryer

FreeImagination Stage's charming and dreamy dance-based performance imagines two delightful friends who live inside a wastepaper basket! Together they discover what imaginative ideas might unfold from a crumpled piece of paper. Maybe mistakes are okay--perhaps they can inspire our greatest ideas. DC Metro Theatre Arts calls Paper Dreams “an enchanting production that...educates and entertains and sparks inquiry into the creative process for young and old alike.”

The Guru and Students of Swaralaya School of Music Present: Stories of Nature & Faith through the Hindu Pantheon
Hindustani classical music is one of two schools of music found in India, and thrives predominantly in the northern parts of the country. This form of music places a great emphasis on improvisation and elaboration within the framework of a raga, a system of melodic patterns, and taals, a rhythmic pattern of beats. Hindustani vocalists are typically accompanied by the harmonium, or a reed organ, the tanpura, which provides a harmonic drone, and the tabla, or a percussion instrument.
Shashi Nanda is a classical Indian vocalist and teacher in the DMV area. She was first introduced to music by her mother, Mrs. Kasturi Ranganathan, and later went on to learn Hindustani classical singing from both Mrs. Madhur Mathur as well as Dr. Shyamala G. Bhave. Mrs. Nanda holds an advanced diploma from Indira Kala Sangeeth Vishwavidyalaya, a reputed institution of classical music, located in Chattisgarh, India. As a teacher and the director of Swaralaya School of Music, Shashi Nanda aims to pass on her love for music and her culture to future generations of South Asian youth. Her students have gone on to perform on reputed stages both domestically and internationally.
