Name and pronouns? Where are you from/currently residing?
Sabrina Lynne Sawyer, she/her/hers, from Chicago.
What drew you to theatre?
I started drawn in by film and television because that was what I knew/had most access to - but as I studied formally, fell deeper in love with the realism and space to play that specifically exists in theatre. As I got more into the world and was able to see plays more often, there's nothing like the deeply moving experience of sitting in a theatre watching and breathing and reacting with those around you to humanity being reflected in such an imperfect and non-rigid way. I love it!
What drew you to National Players?
I wanted to be very intentional about what my first foundational years in the field looked like. National Players allowed me to tour a show, and center theatre around accessibility, given the range of places we perform at. NP also requires that 10 people become self-sustaining theatre makers, and I am so excited for the lessons that come from that. My problem solving abilities about to be on 10!!!
What are you most looking forward to on the tour?
I'm extremely excited to see how the shows shift and change. I have never had the opportunity to work on any piece for the amount of time we are going to, and I know that there are going to be a plethora of lessons that you can only learn through doing a piece over and over and over and over and over and over and over again - and in completely different places each time.
What do you hope to do after the tour?
We'll see where God leads me next! Maybe another tour? Maybe settling down in DC? Maybe neither of those things! Regardless, wherever I go, it'll be acting.
What’s something you want people to know about you?
UHHHH the fact that I'm an actor is definitely the coolest thing about me. I love it! I do! Nothing to add, happy to be here.
